CES 2012 Day 3 - Motorola, Asus and ZTE

Last Updated on Friday, 13 January 2012 00:42

It's now Day 3 at CES 2012! The latest updates from CES 2012: Android smartphones from Motorola - the Motorola Defy Mini and the Motorola Motoluxe, and the invasion of the Tegra 3 tablets - Asus MeMo 370T and ZTE T98.

CES 2012 Day 3: Motorola Motoluxe

A budget phone with plenty of features, here are the specifications of the Motoluxe

  1. Sporting a 800 Mhz processor and running on Gingerbread
  2. 4.0 inch display
  3. 1400 mAh battery
  4. 8MP rear camera and a front facing VGA camera
  5. Has a light up lanyard slot, which serves as a notification light for texts, emails, and the like.

The phone is expected to be released in Europe and Latin America in February 2012 and is already released in China as the Motorola XT320

CES 2012 Day 3: Motorola Defy Mini

The smaller brother of the famous rugged Android smartphone from Motorola. An entry level smartphone with very little features, unfortunately.

  1. 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display - really small at this time and age
  2. Running on Gingerbread
  3. 3MP rear camera with front facing VGA
  4. 1650 mAh battery - surprisingly quite a large package for an entry level phone.

It might be a good idea for parents to buy a Defy Mini for their children who desperately want to get their first Android phone. It can certainly withstand a lot of punishment from careless young children! The Motorola Defy Mini is set to hit store shelves in Europe, China, and Latin America in Feb 2012 as well.

CES 2012 Day 3: Asus MeMo 370T

Obivously, the Asus team has been taking notes when the Amazon Kindle Fire was launched. The business model works and consumers are happy with the price of the Kindle Fire vs the type of specs they are getting. Asus has certainly give their competitors a run for their money by packing in a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor into a 7-inch Android 4.0 tablet. The cost? An astounding $249.

  1. 7 inch quad core tablet running on Nvidia Tegra 3 chip!
  2. Android Ice Cream Sandwich onboard!
  3. 8MP rear camera
  4. Full high-def 1080p

There are no plans yet for Asus to release either MeMo tablet in the UK, but will start shipping both tablets in the US later this year.

CES 2012 Day 3: ZTE 7 inch Tablet - Codename T98?

Apparently ZTE also has a 7 inch tablet running on Android 4.0, quad core and Nvidia Tegra 3 chip.

Some information below from Androidguys:

"Now at CES, Nvidia is showing off the tablet, and telling the world that it comes with a 7-inch crisp display with a 1200 x 800 resolution, Tegra 3 processor, and it's rocking on ICS. It also comes with 16GB of internal storage, as well as a MicroSD card slot."

"...It's also worth noting that this tablet may be the tablet we saw with Sprint branding passing through FCC. Nothing else is known about the device at this point..."
