I am not sure what happened to me these couple of months but I have dropped my brand new Samsung Galaxy S2 countless times ever since I got it. I could have sworn that it once bounced a few times on the ground after making a hard landing.
However, my Galaxy S2 always managed to escape relatively unscathed. One of the corners seems to be chipped a bit but that’s all. At least, it did not shatter and break into pieces like my old Nokia used to do.
Out of curiosity, I do a quick search on Google for similar experiences from other Galaxy S2 users. Somehow, I felt that it must have been due to the S2 being too slim, too big, or the materials too slippery and as such, it caused me to drop the phone a lot (Ok, I am just clumsy, I know).
From the search results, I come across a very interesting drop test performed by the team from ElectronicsBreak. Apparently, they did a drop test on the iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2 – once from waist height, once from shoulder height and finally, a face-down drop.

The final results come as a surprise to me. There have been much discontent previously on how “plasticky” the Samsung Galaxy S2 feels and how flimsy it felt. I know my own Samsung Galaxy S2 had proven me wrong countless times but I really do not expect the iPhone 4S to be virtually shattered under similar circumstances.
It also provides more ammunition to the group of people that suspects that iPhone 4S does not have Corning Gorilla Glass as its display. It just does not make sense for the display to be shattered like that if it has been Gorilla Glass calibre.
I know a lot of sceptics will question the conclusions drawn from just one experiment but I know from my own experience that my Samsung Galaxy S2 is one tough kid.
