Black is out, white is officially in—with smartphones that is.

After coming out with the Galaxy Nexus last November 2011, Samsung will be releasing a white version of the much awaited phone in the UK on February 13—exactly 5 days away.

So why should you get this phone?

Even though it was released nearly 4 months ago, we are only getting news about the Galaxy Nexus White now. Apart from its new white hue, the Galaxy Nexus is still the first smartphone to feature the latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich. You can find similar features of the original Galaxy Nexus on the White version which includes a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera, 1280x720p HD resolution, and 1GB RAM. It also comes with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage.

Other than the features above, the White Galaxy Nexus has been given a completely different look and feel, such as a redesigned UI with improved multi-tasking, NFC support, notifications, and Wi-Fi hotspot. The new version also comes with a ‘Face Unlock’ feature, which lets the phone’s facial recognition software unlock it.

Along with the launch of this new version, Samsung Mobile UK’s managing director and IRE Telecommunications and Networks Division, Simon Stanford said:

“After much speculation, we are pleased to announce the availability of the Galaxy Nexus White which follows the great reception the phone has received since it was launched back in November. One of the things we at Samsung pride ourselves on is the choice we offer customers, and we’ve enjoyed huge success to date by introducing white variants of our most popular models to our product portfolio.”
