LG Optimus Pad Available for Pre-order!

Last Updated on Friday, 07 October 2011 16:22

The LG Optimus Pad is considered one of the best upcoming android tablets. The Optimus Pad (this is how Europeans will know the device) is also known as LG G-Slate in the US so don’t be confused. Instead of competing with the 10-inch screen of other Android tablets, LG choose a 8.9 inch display with 1280x768 resolution. But this does not mean that it falls short in functionality. Even with a smaller screen, the images and videos still look stunning - comparable with the quality of Android tablets with slightly larger screens. Japan residents, in particular, will be very pleased to know that LG will start to take orders starting March 15, 2011.

LG has partnered with NTT Docomo to make sure that the Optimus Pad is all set and ready to go. This android tablet includes several applications that Docomo users will surely love, one of which is the BeeTV. The BeeTV offers a wide range of entertainment content such as movies and music. On the other hand, for those who enjoy reading eBooks and comics, 2Dfacto application is also included. More applications can be downloaded through the Android Market.

According to Kyu-hong Lee , CEO and Vice-President of LG Electronics Japan, the Japan market is the fastest early adopters when it comes to new technology and LG is moving fast to take advantage of it. He also added that getting the Optimus Pad in Japan just shows their commitment to the Japanese market. Certainly, this news should has already spread like a virus to every tech junkie in Japan and they are all set to purchase the Optimus Pad come 15th March 2011 though the final price has not yet been disclosed.

Today the good news have crossed the Atlantic as well since the LG G Slate was spotted for pre-order on MobileCity. The price tag is set to $699 but there is no mention of a release date.

The Optimus Pad comes with Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system and runs at 1GHz Tegra 2 dual core processor which is all you need to enjoy this tablet to its fullest. In addition, one of the surprising features LG  has included in this device is its capability to capture videos in 3D. You heard it right, 3D! Whether this is a tie-breaker or not, 3D is all the rage these days when it comes to movies.

Almost every month, there is a 3D movie being shown in the theater so now the theater is brought to you instead. To enjoy your 3D movies better, connect the LG Optimus Pad to a larger screen with 3D video playback capability through the HDMI port that comes with the tablet.
